This sure was a diverse week. Unlike weeks past where we were focused in one area this week we covered several topics around the homestead. If you missed a post this week or would like to review a post you can simply click on the corresponding picture below and you’ll be taken straight to the post. We learned tips and tricks for raising potatoes which will help us maximize our potato production.
We added a coop addition for our “teen” chicks, which while not a typical DIY post from us, certainly included some tips and some photos to help inspire you if you are needing to expand your coop.
We learned some of the pros and cons of beekeeping (which is a subject we’ll be coming back to in the future).
To round out things, we built a simple milk/goat stand which is essential to milking but also makes life much simpler when it comes to trimming hooves or treating a sick/injured goat.
As I said, this was a very diverse week that touched on gardening, goats, bees, and chickens! Wow! But that’s homesteading/farmsteading. There are so many aspects of this type of lifestyle and that’s one of the things we love about it. Fresh air, entertaining animals, and the beauty and abundance God provides through nature, all witnessed right here on our own property. We hope you are enjoying God’s gift of nature today and everyday (yes, even the not so fun days of cold or heat or storms) and that you are thankful for all you have as we are, regardless of whether you have 100 acres or an apt balcony with a small vertical garden or large planter of potatoes. Have a great day and God bless!
